STEM Assistant

The STEM Assistant supports students in their learning activities within the Maker Space, ensuring a safe, caring, and engaging educational environment. This role works closely with the STEM Coach to foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation.

1. Planning and Preparation

a. Understand and promote the SSIS Mission, Core Values, and Curriculum Framework.

b. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of STEM resources, both within the school and in the broader educational context of Vietnam.

c. Assist in designing STEM learning experiences and assessments.

d. Collaborate in planning and executing school-wide STEM initiatives like STEAMovate SSIS.

2. Classroom Environment

a. Foster a positive learning environment in the Maker Space, addressing both academic and interpersonal student needs.

b. Support effective management and utilization of the Maker Space and its resources.

c. Prepare and maintain stimulating learning displays and educational materials.

d. Effectively manage student behaviors in the Makerspace

e. Manage student behavior: supervise and help students learn respectful behavior in the Maker Space.

f. Enhance the learning environment of the STEM-related areas (especially Maker Space): prepare lesson supplies/materials/equipment, display interactive learning displays in room and hallways, locate and/or purchase local materials, organize and retrieve store room supplies.

3. Instruction

a. Establish constructive relationships with students to enhance educational outcomes.

b. Employ questioning and discussion techniques that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.

c. Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students and enhance the learning environment.

d. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in a dynamic learning environment

4. Professional Responsibilities

a. Reflect on and suggest improvements to the teaching and learning processes.

b. Keep accurate records related to resource utilization and student engagements.

c. Actively participate in the school community and pursue professional growth opportunities.

d. Maintain professionalism in conduct, attire, and interactions with the school community.

e. Attendance at staff meetings to plan events and activities, consider school issues, discuss student work and lesson plans, and adapt curriculum and instruction to student needs when required

5. Performs other assignment requested by the teacher/ Associate Principal/ Principal from time to time.

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

 Bachelor's or College degree in Education, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

 Prior experience in an educational setting is advantageous.

Skills:

 Strong command of English and proficiency.

 Demonstrated interest in professional development.

Abilities:

 Broad knowledge and skills in STEM disciplines.

 Able to take on the class when the teacher is absent.

 Attend PD offerings, workshops, faculty meeting as required
