Architecture Designer

The roles and responsibilities of the Designer are as follows:

• Design and prepare detailed electronic layouts, parts lists and/or scale drawings for railings and architectural projects from external architectural drawings, measurements, sketches, photos, and specifications.

• Work closely with Design Manager ensure materials and construction techniques are cost effective and within project budget.

• Make basic calculations to determine layouts requirements for structural design.

• Organize and maintain a design and digital file database for each project.

• Interface with departmental personnel to obtain details of equipment and materials requirements.

• Facilitate and ensure the quality of design, drawings and graphic work produced within the team.

• Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (AutoCAD 2021) software. Familiarity with 3D modeling software required. Trimble Sketchup experience preferred.

• Experience utilizing Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) in a professional environment.

• Experience using Procore as a project management tool an asset.

• Familiarity with both Metric and Imperial system of measure

• Basic math knowledge needed to calculate dimensions, and requirements in materials.

• Able to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications a must.

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, deliver presentations, and demonstrate active listening skills.

• Ability to multitask, organize project elements, and meet deadlines.

• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.

• Ability to be self-directed yet collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.

• Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of drafting/design experience in architectural construction or fabrication industry. Experience with design for manufacturing an asset.

Education

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Architecture, Industrial Design, Structural Engineering, or similar related field of study.
