THE POSITION
As Manager for Government Relations and Public Policy, based in Hanoi, Vietnam, you will contribute to business objectives, issue management, and mitigation of regulatory risks for Maersk in Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar (VCM).
You will be part of a diverse, highly skilled and engaged Global Public Affairs team with colleagues in Denmark, Singapore, India, China, and other countries, and in your daily work you will be engaging very closely with the senior Maersk management team in Vietnam.
You will report to the Chief Group Representative, South Asia, Southeast Asia & Oceania, based in Singapore.
Our Global Public Affairs team follows political and regulatory developments and engages in dialogue with governments, authorities, industry organisations and other stakeholders on issues that could impact Maersk’s business framework conditions. Furthermore, we provide support and guidance to management and business units in engagement with government representatives or other authorities.
THE ROLE
• BUSINESS ISSUES MANAGEMENT. Monitoring and mapping of public policy and regulatory issues of relevance to Maersk businesses in VCM; in coordination with business leaders prioritizing issues based on a value-at-stake approach; monitoring and reporting on developments. Act as a trusted advisor to Maersk’s leadership.
• ADVOCACY. Develop advocacy strategies and execute on same to secure relevant approvals and permissions from national as well as local authorities for Maersk to grow and develop logistics and transport solutions for customers. Produce relevant advocacy material, including background briefings, position papers, and speeches to prepare the participation of senior executives.
• COORDINATE ENGAGEMENT WITH MAERSK BUSINESS STAKEHOLDERS. Execution of Maersk’s government relations and public policy activities, including engaging appropriately with relevant key government officials, business associations coalitions and other relevant stakeholders. Furthermore, mobilise and involve senior executives in engagement with external stakeholders when relevant and appropriate.
• MONITOR POLICY DEVELOPMENTS. Following general political and policy trends across VCM to support business development and mitigate risks. Analyse and report on these developments when relevant for Maersk’s prioritised regulatory issues.
Yêu Cầu Công Việc
• 8+ years of experience with public policy/government affairs in Vietnam and/or Asia, either from a role in a MNC, consultancy, embassy/trade council, government/agency, or similar.
• A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public policy, economics, or political science.
• Knowledge of and experience with transport, logistics/supply chain, infrastructure and storage is considered very valuable.
• Ability to work directly with senior, international executives, is essential.
• A self-starter that takes lead and owns both the process and the outcome, all the way.
• Exemplary networking and influencing skills, able to partner effectively and form relationships with peers and management.
• Ability to grasp and translate complex issues into a language suitable for concerned audiences in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
• Strong Public Affairs ethics, conducts all activities with honesty and integrity in line with company values, looks out for the best interest of the company
• Highly skilled in written and spoken English, and fluency in Vietnamese is considered highly beneficial
