The Data Team
This role will be part of the Data team in the Digital Transformation office with a vision to transform SSI into a data led organisation.
Bringing together multiple teams across the business, the Data Governance, Engineering and Analytics team under the Digital Transformation Office has recently been formed with a mission to deliver on the vision.
This Role
This role will be responsible for taking business needs from business units and analyzing relevant data to develop answers for the needs or find interesting trends in data that could bring value to business.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing business insights and trends using data visualization techniques and tools such as dashboards and reports
- Data exploration and preparation, data collection and integration to facilitate data analysis
- Developing data models for the purpose of data analysis
- Because SSI is still building up its data analytic practice, the role must also cover the related roles of data engineer at times.
- This role would be suitable for someone who is already working with data with future ambitions of becoming a Data Scientist
- For the Data Science Role
Identifying relevant data sources for business needs
- Collecting structured and unstructured data
- Sourcing missing data
- Organizing data into usable formats
- Building predictive models
- Building machine learning algorithms
- Enhancing the data collection process
- Processing, cleansing & verifying of data
- Analysing data for trends and patterns and to find answers to specific questions
- Setting up data infrastructure
- Develop, implement and maintain databases
- Assess quality of data and remove or clean data
- Generating information and insights from data sets and identifying trends and patterns
- Preparing reports for executive and project teams
- Create visualisations of data

Knowledge and Experience
- Three to Five years of relevant experience in testing and working with data warehouses and data marts
- Three to Five years of relevant experience in creating visualizations, dashboards
- Three to Five years of experience in securities industry
- Coding experience in one or more languages such as R, Python, Java etc.
- Familiar with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI etc
- Hands on experience with common databases such as MS SQL and Oracle and its associated language SQL, PL/SQL etc
- Hands on experience with cloud analytics platforms such as Azure, GCP, AWS and Snowflake
- Understanding of ETL framework and ETL tools
- Excellent analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns and insights from data.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Presentation skills – ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a
way that is easy to understand.
- Problem solving skills.
- Communication skills with effective stakeholder management & conflict resolution skills.
- Good spoken and written English
