Development LAB Head

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERIC

• Oversees the development of the automotive products; Passenger Car motor oil (PCMO) and Motorcycle oil (MCO)
• Participates in the development of contracts – to ensure required product can be produced as required
• Direct management of the Automotive development team
• Follows the schedules of development, including:
o Management of the priorities in agreement with the product management department and Head of R&D
o Leading development projects with additive suppliers, base oil suppliers, OEMs, partners, external test laboratories
o Studying and approving new raw materials, Reviewing the use of all raw materials
o Ensures the industrialisation of products, as well as the transfer of formulations to the production sites (internal + CMO)
o Adhering to the budgets set for the development and operation of the laboratories
o Elaborating plans for product development in agreement with the Head of R&D
o Organizes and conducts follow-up meetings with senior management regarding new developments
o Analyzing samples submitted by the Automotive Technical Services (France and Export)
o Analyzing competitor product
o Ensuring sourcing alternatives
o Keeps up to date the indicators of development of automotive products

• Being the lead for CMO activities related to product and formulations:
o Being in charge of the design of feasibility studies and laboratory datasheets with CMOs

• Manages the day-to-day activities of the Laboratory team members, providing training, development and guidance as required. Recruit, train, coach and retain team members

• Team-work:
o Being the lead for product development with other R&D sites of the group
o Being the lead liaison with quality control department
o Participating in production-related meetings
o Participating in streamlining operations
o Participating in Quality management meetings with relevant management meetings
o Participating in automotive technical meetings
o Communicating technical data both internally and externally as required

• HSE and Quality:
o Ensuring the application of the procedures in force according to the Repositories ISO 9001
o Being the lead in the organization of the laboratories and ensuring their proper operation
o Ensuring and validating new test methods
o Ensuring the implementation of new laboratory test equipment
o Ensuring the application of the procedures in force, and the safety instructions
o Ensuring strict compliance with HSE requirements as well as quality system requirements

• IT:
o Working in partnership with IT, supply and other related departments for establishment of streamlining the LIMS project

• Conducts any ad hoc projects as requested

CANDIDATE PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

Education / Qualification:
(1) Degree in Chemistry
(2) Master or PhD degree in Chemistry or related subject


Experience needed: +10 year experience in product development of automotive engine technologies
+ Broad experience in lubricants formulations or additive developments


Language: (1) English: proficiency needed


IT Knowledge:
(1) Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
(2) Knowledge of SAP
(3) Ability to learn new systems quickly
