Engineering Lead

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor the Vietnam engineering team, promoting high performance, collaboration, and growth.

• Work closely with UK-based Product Managers and development teams to ensure clear alignment on requirements, technical design, and delivery timelines.

• Act as the primary liaison between the Vietnam and UK teams, ensuring transparent communication, shared priorities, and strong cross-cultural collaboration.

• Build a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture across regions and time zones.

Technical Delivery

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and serverless cloud technologies (AWS Lambda).

• Manage and oversee frontend development using React.js, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and performant user interfaces.

• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure consistent integration between the backend and frontend layers.

• Review and optimize code across the stack, ensuring adherence to best practices, performance standards, and security requirements.

• Implement robust security practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.

• Drive continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) and manage technical debt effectively.

• Identify and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and delivery bottlenecks early.

Process & Team Development

• Apply and promote Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) for effective planning, estimation, and iteration delivery.

• Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and team retrospectives.

• Support team members’ professional growth through coaching and skill development.

• Continuously refine development workflows, tools, and communication practices to enhance delivery speed and quality.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and RESTful API development.

• Solid experience in frontend development with React.js, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with serverless architectures and AWS cloud services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFormation).

• Experience with MongoDB, DocumentDB or other NoSQL databases.

• Deep understanding of authentication and authorization standards (OAuth, OpenID, JWT, SSO).

• Proficiency in Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab).

• Familiarity with AWS message queue, or other kind of message queue.

• Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architectures.

• Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.

• Strong awareness of application security best practices.

• Others: swagger, Docker/Kubernetes, Figma, YouTrack.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in leading or managing software development teams.

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack web development (with strong backend and solid frontend experience).

• Experience working in Agile environments and distributed teams across multiple time zones.

• Proven track record of delivering scalable, high-quality web applications.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Advanced degree or PSM-II (Professional Scrum Master) certification preferred.
