TEAM: Web Developer

REPORTING TO Lead of the Web Developer Team

We’re seeking a talented Front - End Developer to join our dynamic team in building a cutting-edge bioinformatics platform. This platform aims to empower researchers and scientists with community contributed data analysis pipelines and the ability to share results seamlessly.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in front-end development, a keen eye for clean and beautiful design, and a passion for creating intuitive user experiences. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our web applications, ensuring they are responsive, performant, and visually appealing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

❖ Develop and maintain robust, scalable web applications with responsive user interfaces using modern front-end technologies.

❖ Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring an optimal user experience.

❖ Participate in requirements analysis, system design, and software architecture discussions, providing technical expertise and making informed decisions.

❖ Engage in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and maintaining code quality standards to follow best practices.

❖ Ensure proper documentation of software development processes, including project requirements, technical specifications, and user guides.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

❖ Communication: Proficient in written and verbal English; able to explain topics and issues clearly and concisely.

❖ 3-5 Years of experience in writing, improving, maintaining, and phasing out critical features and use cases. Below are the specific behaviors and skills important for this role.

❖ Cross-functional Collaboration: Able to collaborate within and across teams; willing to transition to new projects as needed.

❖ Results-driven: Capable of independently researching and solving problems, with a "start with yes" mentality to deliver products in a timely manner.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

❖ Solid software development skills using JavaScript/TypeScript and HTML/CSS to build single-page applications with React and Next.js, along with component libraries like Material UI.

❖ Familiarity with both REST and GraphQL as interfaces between the front-end and back-end, and understanding of the trade-offs between the two.

❖ Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library) to ensure components handle edge cases, and with CI/CD pipelines.

❖ Knowledge of Agile project management and Scrum workflows.

❖ Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and deploying applications using containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
