Furniture Technical Engineer

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Furniture Technical Engineer at Four Hands Vietnam. The role involves overseeing technical aspects of furniture design and production, collaborating with design teams, and ensuring product quality.

1. Required Knowledge & Skills

• Review CAD renderings from designers and provide feedback, callouts, and suggestions to resolve construction issues, ensuring stability, strength, and ergonomic usability in furniture structures.

• Develop prototypes and collaborate with factories to ensure manufacturability.

• Review whitewood samples based on vendor CAD approvals.

• Create sample review recaps and coordinate with the design team to address any remaining construction issues.

• Conduct in-house product and packaging tests to assess durability and shipping integrity.

• Work with third-party testing labs (BV, SGS, Intertek, or TÜV Rheinland) to certify products according to industry standards.

• Ensure furniture designs align with customer requirements and cost targets.

• Develop and refine technical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software.

• Resolve manufacturing issues or customer chargebacks related to design feasibility and quality control.

2. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain engineering drawings and technical specifications, including sample review recaps.

• Prepare testing reports and compliance documentation for the U.S. and international markets.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

• Must have 3+ years of experience in furniture product development and engineering.

• Strong understanding of woodworking, metal fabrication, upholstery, and finishing processes.

• Experience in reviewing color panels for quality and consistency.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software.

• Knowledge of U.S. compliance regulations (BIFMA, ANSI, ASTM, CARB).

• Experience in product and packaging testing.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

• Fluency in spoken and written English (required) and Chinese (optional).
