Garment Fitting Technician

A Garment Fitting Technician typically possesses a combination of education, experience, and skills specific to garment construction and fitting.

Responsibilities:

1. Fit Sessions: Conducting fit sessions with models or clients to assess the fit of garments and make necessary adjustments.

2. Fit the sample in the mannequin and take a photo.

3. Alterations: Making precise alterations to the pattern to achieve the desired fit and garment appearance.

4. Quality Control: Ensuring that finished garments meet the required standards of fit, comfort, and style.

5. Check the sample construction based on the GJ process details, OS, or Design.

6. Collaboration: Working closely with designers, pattern makers, and production teams to achieve the best fit for garments.

7. Documentation: Keeping detailed records of fitting adjustments and alterations for future reference.

8. Give analysis, comments, and final decisions on the overall garment quality.

9. Give recommendations to the supplier for quality improvement.

10. Able to work overtime if needed without excuses.

Education:

1. A degree or diploma in fashion design, textile technology, garment technology, or a related field.

2. Specialized Courses: Courses in pattern making, garment construction, and tailoring can be particularly beneficial.

Skills:

1. Knowledge of Fabrics and Materials: Understanding different types of fabrics and their properties is crucial for making fitting adjustments.

2. Pattern Making and Alteration: Skills in creating and modifying patterns to ensure proper fit.

3. Sewing and Garment Construction: Proficiency in sewing techniques and garment construction methods.

4. Attention to Detail: Precision in measurements and adjustments to ensure the best fit.
