General Accountant

The Purpose of the Job

The General Accountant oversees the full scope of accounting activities within the company, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, inventory accounting, cash forecast & control tax reporting, and financial closing. This role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of accounting transactions in accordance with VAS and internal policies. The position works closely with cross-functional teams such as Production, Warehouse, Merchandising and Import-Export to support smooth financial operations.

Principle Accountabilities

1. Accounting Operations Oversight

• Oversee daily accounting transactions including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and fixed assets

• Supervise and review accounting entries prepared by team members

• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes

• Ensure timely and accurate recording in accordance with VAS and internal policies

2. Inventory & Cost Accounting

• Monitor inventory movements and validate reconciliation with production and warehouse data

• Analyze COGS, product cost structure, variances, and stock adjustments

• Ensure accurate allocation of freight, duties, and input costs

3. Tax & Compliance Management

• Oversee preparation and submission of VAT, PIT, CIT, FCT & transfer pricing reports

• Ensure compliance with VAS, tax regulations, and internal control policies

• Coordinate with tax authorities and support during audits and inspections

• Ensure accurate and complete documentation for compliance and audit trails

4. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and review financial reports: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow

• Provide financial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making

• Identify financial risks and irregularities and report to Finance Operation Manager

5. Process Improvement & Systems

• Drive improvements in accounting workflows and internal controls

• Support ERP/accounting software implementation and improvements

• Promote automation and efficiency across accounting processes

6. Team Leadership & Support

• Mentor and guide team members in terms of relevant areas

• Coordinate task delegation and ensure training on updated regulations and systems to Finance and cross-function departments

• Foster collaboration between Finance and other departments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related fields

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role

• Strong knowledge VAS/ IFRS, tax laws, and compliance

• Proficient in accounting software and Excel

• Experience in manufacturing or garment industry is a strong advantage

• Good command of English
