Head of Data Science/Ai

Job Purpose • Lead the bank’s data and AI transformation by developing and executing a forward-looking analytics strategy aligned with Techcombank’s strategic goals • Unlock the power of data and AI by identifying innovative ways to monetize and apply data and generative AI across the organization • Inspire and manage a high-performing team of data scientists and analysts to deliver transformative insights and solutions • Foster a culture of innovation and agility, embedding data-driven and AI-enabled thinking into decision-making at all levels • Deliver measurable impact through new business capabilities that enhance customer experience, employee engagement, and shareholder value Key Accountabilities (1) Advanced Analytics, AI & Innovation • Build strong internal and external partnerships to drive innovation and deliver tangible outcomes. • Champion the value of data products, AI, and generative AI across the organization and with external stakeholders. • Lead the development and integration of AI and Gen AI strategies, including use cases in customer experience, operational efficiency, and risk management. • Identify and execute strategic partnerships to support business development and AI-driven growth. • Collaborate with technology and business leaders to uncover and implement new data and AI opportunities. • Promote a forward-thinking culture that encourages experimentation, enrichment strategies, and scalable growth. • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to ensure Techcombank remains at the forefront of data and AI innovation. • Translate business strategies into actionable data and AI requirements and solutions. • Standardize feature engineering and model development practices across the organization. • Deliver measurable business value through data and AI initiatives, with clear financial impact. • Tackle complex, ambiguous problems (“unknown unknowns”) using advanced analytics and AI. • Extract actionable insights from unstructured and disconnected data sources using cutting-edge AI techniques. Key Accountabilities (2) Project Management • Navigate project complexities and evolving business needs to maintain high operational performance. • Collaborate with team leads to resolve challenges, conduct post-mortems, and implement continuous improvements. • Ensure timely delivery of analytics and AI projects with high quality and business relevance. Key Accountabilities (3) People Leadership • Oversee workforce planning and budgeting for the analytics and AI function. • Attract, onboard, and retain top talent in data science, AI, and innovation. • Set clear goals, KPIs, and expectations for individuals and the team, aligned with strategic objectives. • Drive performance management through regular feedback, coaching, and development planning. • Identify capability gaps and provide tailored development through training, mentoring, and career planning. • Recognize and reward contributions, fostering a high-engagement, high-performance culture. • Act as a role model, promoting Techcombank’s values and culture across the function. • Communicate relevant HR programs and initiatives to support team development and well-being.

Education • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, or other related fields. • Strong academic foundation in machine learning, generative AI, and statistical modeling. Experience • 14+ years of experience in data analytics, machine learning, and model development at scale. • 10+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing analytics and AI teams. • Proven expertise in programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL, Scala, Java, Tableau, and AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face). • Strong technical background in numerical sciences and AI product development. • Demonstrated success in leading enterprise-wide digital and AI transformation initiatives. • Deep understanding of generative AI technologies and their application in financial services. • Recognized industry expert in data, AI, and analytics, with knowledge of emerging trends and technologies.
