Head Of Legal

1) Job Purpose

To provide legal advice and solutions to business and back/ mid end teams of the bank to ensure that the interests of the bank are legally protected at all times, including but not limited to, in respect of business transactions that the organisation partakes so as to minimise and financial and reputation loss as well as in respect of the applicable laws and regulations pertaining to banks and corporates.

2) Principle Accountabilities

Provide legal advice and perform legal research/ legal update

• To provide accurate and timely legal advice relating to all aspects of Maybank Vietnam

business activities.

• To cooperate with Compliance Department, Risk Management Department and other business units to identify legal issues / legal risk relating to the business activities of Maybank Vietnam

• Conduct research on areas of law and maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation through attending seminars, lectures and training, etc

• Provide legal update for circulating to all members of Maybank Vietnam’s staff for their awareness of the regulations and legal issues, and for reporting to the Head, Legal, International v.

• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on potential and uprising legal issues

• Deliver staff training on relevant legal matters

Drafting & Vetting of agreements, contracts and other legal documents including when required by the Vietnamese authorities related to the banking market.

• Work with other departments in reviewing / vetting / drafting where applicable and practicable legal documentation

• Identify the legal risk and provide solutions for the said risk

• Give advice/ recommendation to the authorities for their amendment/ revision on the draft legal documents

Relationship Management

• Management and oversight of appointed external legal counsels (including monitoring and following up legal advice and legal procedures which will be performed by external lawyers

• Consult with and supervise external counsels for legal matters and litigation

• Promote and maintain an effective working relationship with internal stakeholders

Matrix report to Head, Legal, International, concurrently locally direct report to country CEO

Qualification

• Level of Education: University graduate, majoring in business Law. Knowledge in Banking Industry, financial market.

• Years of Experience: At least 4 years of related experience in Banking industry.
