Position Objective: Host Country Studies Teacher is expected to carry out the instruction of Vietnamese Language & Culture required by IB Host Country Studies programmes and any other duties as assigned by the Secondary Vice Principal and Principal in consultation with the Head of School. Responsibilities: Host Country Studies Teacher reports to the Secondary Vice Principal and Principal, and perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to:   Teaching &Learning 1. Manage student learning through effective teaching in accordance with the IB Host Country Studies programmes. 2. Prepare materials for class activities and visual aids; and to research new sources of supplies for Vietnamese languages and culture lessons. 3. Ensure continuity, progression and cohesiveness in all teaching through effective planning. 4. Use a variety of teaching methods and approaches, including group work, active learning to match curricular objectives and the range of student needs. 5. Use positive management of behaviour in an environment of mutual respect which allows students to feel safe and secure and promotes their self-esteem.   Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting, and Accountability 1. Be responsible for the processes of identification, assessment, recording and reporting of IB Host Country Studies programmes. 2. Assess students’ work systematically and use the results to inform future planning and teaching. 3. Be familiar with statutory assessment and reporting procedures and to prepare and present informative, helpful and accurate reports to parents. 4. Organise school Culture events, National Day, Moon festival, Field Trips, Goes Wild, and any other ASAs that support IB Host Country Studies programmes. 5. Be responsible for pastoral care as an advisor within a House. 6. Be assigned supervision duties. 7. Other additional responsibilities as designated by the Principal/Vice Principal, or/and Head of School.   Subject Knowledge & Understanding 1. Have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the IB Host Country Studies,programmes of Vietnamese language and culture subjects.   Professional Standards & Development 1. Be a role model to students through personal presentation and professional conducts. 2. Arrive in class, on or before the start of the lesson, and to begin and end lessons on time. 3. Strive for personal and professional development through active involvement in the School’s PD programme where appropriate. 4. Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of teachers’ professional duties in accordance with the teaching philosophy of the School and the requirements of the IB Host Country Studies programmes. Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree with Vietnamese Curriculum major and teaching certificate.  At least two years of relevant experience (preferably International Schools) This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected. The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Regional CEO so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.

Position Requirements:  Attend regular department and section meetings, and be involved extracurricular activities.  Good interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in English and Vietnamese languages.  Ability to priorities workloads, work on own initiative and to inspire children with an enthusiasm for learning.
