Import & Export Operation Senior Manager (Custom & Trade)

Purpose of the Role

To lead and manage end-to-end shipping and customs operations for Vietnam, ensuring compliance with international and local trade regulations, streamlining the process to eliminate associated risks and to optimize logistics performance, and enabling seamless cross-border movement of goods. This role will also serve as a key interface with customs authorities, internal stakeholders (Integrated Planning, Business Unit Supply Chain, Finance, etc), and other external partners and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Customs & Trade Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade agreements.

• Manage E2E HS code classification, determination and maintain accurate product master data for customs purposes.

• Liaise with customs authorities and manage customs inquiries/dispute responses.

• Liaise with customs brokers, government agencies, and internal legal teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth clearance.

• Lead audits and internal reviews related to customs and trade compliance.

Process Improvement & Capability Building

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance shipping and customs efficiency.

• Develop SOPs and ensure all logistics staff fully equipped on the right process.

• Build strong database and tools to support efficient process and brilliant execution.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for customs-related queries and escalations.

• Partner with regional and global customs and global logistics teams to align best practices and regulatory changes.

• Support procurement and finance teams with customs valuation, duties, and tax-related matters.

Shipping Operations

• Oversee inbound and outbound shipping activities, including carrier selection, freight booking, and documentation.

• Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods across domestic and international routes.

• Monitor and improve shipping KPIs (e.g. OTIF, lead time, freight cost per unit).

• Collaborate with planning and warehousing teams to align logistics execution with supply chain plans.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in logistics, with strong exposure to shipping and customs operations.

• Proven expertise in HS code classification and customs documentation.

• Experience working with customs brokers and government agencies.

• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.

• Fluency in English and Vietnamese.

• Prior experience in FMCG environment is preferred.
