Instrumentation Supervisor

Job Purpose

• Plan, manage, control and monitor the Instrumentation Works. Instruction and coordination with Instrumentation subcontractors. Supervise all works of Instrumentation works.

• Close communication with the subcontractors and the superior; QC group, field engineers, the other supervisors, Construction manager.

• Ensure that the works are in accordance with the required quality and safety regulations.

• To coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope, schedule and budget, in collaboration with project management team.

• Respond to work delays, emergencies and other project disruptions.

• Field instrumentation engineering work, managing work BOQ and technical specification, shop drawing as per design drawing, field change & modification.

Main Responsibilities/Major Tasks

Planning Instrumentation Work

1) Review Instrumentation design deliverables such as general specification, standard drawings, structure framing drawing.

2) Receipt of design references, document list.

3) Monitor and control the schedule, delivery, quality.

4) Planning Instrumentation construction work, proper work schedule, resource allocation, work priority, coordination with other plant work.

5) Align the planning with Instrumentation subcontractor, internal and external stakeholder.

6) Assist and/or conduct site survey.

7) Check plant layout, loading data, reference data/drawings for foundation design etc. and incorporate those data as design conditions.

8) Scaffolding plan, and other temporary plans.

9) Review MSRA, procedure and ITP related to the piping work.

10) Prepare specification for Instrumentation work. Conduct bid analysis (technical, scope of work) of the subcontractor’ quotations. Review and approve subcontractor documents, fabrication/installation procedures, factory inspection procedures, etc.

11) Review and approve sub-contractors’ construction drawings and procedures, and obtain client approval as necessary. When so requested, attend the inspections at vendors’ factories and/or at the construction site.

12) Supervision of the sub-contractors’ fabrication, construction and inspection.

13) In cooperation with PM and other managers of the project, assist change order adjustments to the client and/or sub-contractors for Instrumentation works.

Instrumentation Supervisor

1) Manage Instrumentation work with subcontractor workforce.

2) Attend daily / weekly meeting with the subcontractors.

3) Review the subcontractor’s report.

4) Watch Manage, control, and monitor daily construction works. Instruction to the subcontractor. Progress and quality control are part of the daily work.

5) In the case of any malfunctions or problems, identify possible causes, make plans and implement countermeasures, and issue a non-conformance report.

6) Coordinate interface with other construction group (piping, mechanical, electrical, civil & structure etc).

Instrumentation Field Engineering

1) Field Instrumentation engineering work, such as field change/ adjustment, rectify the defects, additional work.

2) Report and rectify the engineering issues with field engineering group.

3) Oversee testing and commissioning of field instruments, control valves, transmitters, and DCS systems.

4) Ensure proper use and maintenance of calibration tools, testing equipment, and safety devices.

5) Instrument commissioning work, such as loop checking, and functional testing of instruments.

Technical Skills

• Science and Engineering Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, etc.

• Knowledge in laws, regulations, standards, etc. applicable to Instrumentation engineering design (design engineering, environmental protection, safety, etc.)

• Business English Proficiency (Writing, Communication)

Business Experiences

• Plant structure supervisor or engineering experiences in plant construction (3 years or more)
