Interior Design (FF&E)

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented FF&E Interior Designer to lead spec’ing, sourcing, and procurement of finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment for interior projects. The role collaborates closely with interior designers, project managers, architects, and procurement teams to deliver cohesive, on-brand interiors that meet performance, budget, and timeline targets.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead FF&E program development from concept through installation, including brief creation, concept boards, and finish schedules.

- Specify and source FF&E items (furniture, fabrics, textiles, fixtures, lighting, casegoods, accessories) aligned with design intent, performance requirements, and budget.

- Prepare detailed FF&E specifications, procurement schedules, cost estimates, and value-engineering options.

- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, lead times, warranties, and delivery terms; coordinate with suppliers on samples, lead times, and returns.

- Develop and maintain FF&E master schedules, purchase orders, RFPs, RFQs, and submittals; track orders and deliveries.

- Collaborate with interior designers on space planning and elevation drawings to ensure accurate fit and aesthetic coherence.

- Review and approve shop drawings, product data, cut sheets, and finish samples for compliance with design intent and codes.

- Conduct site visits for installation coordination, QA, and punch lists; respond to on-site issues related to FF&E.

- Ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into FF&E selections where appropriate (materials, finishes, lifecycle, vendor sustainability claims).

- Prepare and present FF&E concepts and color/material storytelling to clients and stakeholders.

- Maintain organized FF&E documentation, catalogs, and version control; update manuals and maintenance guidelines.

- Stay current with market trends, product innovations, and accessibility and safety standards.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field (professional degree preferred).

- 5 years (junior to mid-level) or more of FF&E-focused interior design experience.

- Strong portfolio demonstrating FF&E development, procurement, and on-site execution.

- Proficiency with drafting/3D tools and FF&E software; comfortable interpreting architectural drawings and coordination notes.

- Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract administration basics.

- Understanding of codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability practices relevant to FF&E.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project-management skills.

- Detail-oriented with strong organization and time-management abilities.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

- Experience with sustainability certifications or green product sourcing.

- Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Trello, Monday.com) and BIM coordination.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Rhino (or equivalent).

- Rendering and presentation tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for mood boards and client presentations.

- Knowledge of vendor onboarding, RFQ processes, and contract terms.

Portfolio and Documentation Requirements:

- Portfolio showing FF&E development from concept through procurement and installation.

- Résumé detailing relevant FF&E projects, roles, and outcomes.

- Sample finish schedules, FF&E boards, vendor lists, and procurement trackers.
