Junior Basic Design Structural Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Structural Design:

- Assist in designing ship structures – hull and foundations – at the concept, basic, and functional design levels.

- Perform structural calculations using empirical formulae from Classification Regulations as well as first principles.

- Assist in preparing structural drawing packages for submission to Classification Societies, under the guidance of the Project Manager and senior engineers.

- Assist in preparing weight estimates with a focus on structural weight calculations.

2. Collaboration:

- Work effectively within team environments, both within the office and across global teams.

- Share ideas, concerns, and solutions openly with team members.

- Complete assignments on time, adapting to changes in goals or priorities while maintaining confidentiality.

3. Problem-Solving:

- Analyze and reflect on observations and experiences to assist in solving problems.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline.

• Experience: 0-3 years of experience in a shipbuilding company or relevant industry.

• Technical Expertise:

o Basic knowledge of Classification Society Rules, Industry Regulations, Codes, and other relevant standards.

o Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (2D Drafting), and 3D Modelling software.

• Competencies:

o Communication: Effectively conveys key information in a clear and timely manner.

o Language: Possess basic reading and writing skills in English, with a proactive attitude and strong motivation to improve communication skills through practice and company-provided training.

o Adaptability: Adjusts behavior and approaches based on the situation.

o Willing to be mentored and coached by senior engineer.

• Other requirements:

o Legally authorized to work in the job location.

o Willing to travel to North America for short-term assignments.
