MEP Engineer

Synopsis Of Duties

The MEP Engineer is responsible for providing technical consultancy, coordinating design intent with site execution, and supervising the installation

and commissioning of MEP systems in construction projects.

This role ensuring that all MEP systems are technically sound, compliant with standards, and executed as per approved drawings and specifications.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Consultancy & Design Coordination:

• Review MEP design drawings, technical specifications, and ensure feasibility for site installation.

• Coordinate with consultants, clients, and design teams for technical clarifications and approvals.

• Provide engineering solutions and recommendations to optimize cost, safety, and system performance.

• Participate in value engineering workshops and ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.

Project Execution & Site Coordination:

• Coordinate with civil/structural teams to ensure proper space allocation for MEP services.

• Supervise MEP installation works: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection systems.

• Verify material deliveries and ensure compliance with project specifications.

• Attend site meetings and ensure all MEP works meet project schedule and quality standards.

Subcontractor Management:

• Coordinate with MEP subcontractors regarding work sequence, manpower

planning, and site progress.

• Review shop drawings, method statements,

and material submittals.

• Ensure subcontractors comply with technical requirements, safety regulations, and contract terms.

Testing & Commissioning:

• Prepare and review testing & commissioning plans and checklists.

• Coordinate FAT/SAT and site inspections with clients, consultants, and authorities.

• Ensure systems operate according to design intent and performance requirements.

• Assist in preparing As-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover documents.

HSE Compliance:

• Work with Safety Officer to ensure MEP installation follows HSE standards and site regulations.

• Report and support resolution of unsafe practices or technical risks.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate documentation of drawings, RFIs, inspection reports, material approvals.

• Prepare weekly progress reports for management and clients.

• Support claims, variations, and project close-out documentation where required.

• Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction methodologies.

• Good understanding of both design review and site execution.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), MS Office, and MEP calculation tools.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or related fields.

• Minimum 03 years of MEP engineering experience in consultancy and construction projects.

• Experience in testing & commissioning is an advantage.

• Proficiency in English for technical coordination and documentation.
