Job description

The Modern Trade Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to maximize the growth and profitability of the company's products within the modern trade channel. This role involves managing key accounts, building strong relationships with retailers, and ensuring the effective execution of sales plans.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and execute sales strategies and plans for the modern trade channel in alignment with the overall company objectives.

• Identify and target potential modern trade customers, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, and beauty chains.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, negotiate and secure favorable trading terms, and drive sales growth.

• Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for business expansion and to stay ahead in the market.

• Collaborate with Trade marketing & Brand teams to develop effective trade marketing campaigns, promotions, and merchandising plans to increase brand visibility and drive sales.

• Monitor and analyze sales performance, market share, and profitability of products within the modern trade channel, and take corrective actions if necessary.

• Conduct regular store visits to ensure proper implementation of trade marketing initiatives, resolve any issues or challenges, and provide support to the sales team.

• Manage and motivate the modern trade sales team, including setting performance targets, providing training and coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.

• Collaborate with the supply chain and operations teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products to customers, resolve any logistics issues, and maintain optimal stock levels.

• Prepare regular reports, including sales forecasts, market analysis, and competitor insights, to provide accurate information for decision-making and to track progress against targets.

Job requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.

• Proven experience of at least 5 years in modern trade sales within the FMCG industry, with a track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.

• Strong knowledge of the modern trade industry, including key players, market dynamics, and consumer trends.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with key accounts and stakeholders.

• Strategic thinking and analytical skills to identify opportunities, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions
