Introduction to Korea Development Bank (KDB) Established in 1954 under the Korea Development Banking Act, Korea Development Bank (KDB) is a fully government-owned policy bank with a unique mission to support Korea’s industrial development and economic growth. Unlike commercial banks, KDB plays a pivotal role in providing long-term, strategic financing and industry expertise to nurture key sectors of the economy. Over the past seven decades, KDB has stood at the forefront of Korea’s economic journey—from post-war recovery and industrialization to leading responses during financial crises—serving as a steadfast pillar for national stability and innovation. Guided by the vision of becoming a “Greater KDB, Global Financial Leader Growing in Tandem with Korea,” the Bank is driving strategic initiatives to foster core industries, support regional development, ensure market stability, and enhance global competitiveness. KDB maintains a strong domestic presence with 60 branches and a robust international network spanning 25 overseas locations across 18 countries. KDB is expanding its footprint with the establishment of its Hanoi branch, reinforcing its mission to support Korea’s global economic integration and contribute to sustainable growth in the region. Establishment of Hanoi Branch KDB officially received the license for the establishment of the Hanoi Branch on 14 January 2026 from the State Bank of Vietnam. Vietnam has emerged as a key economic partner to Korea, with growing bilateral trade and increasing Korean investment across various industries. By setting up a formal presence in Hanoi, KDB aims to actively support Korean companies operating in Vietnam, facilitate cross-border financing, and contribute to the development of Vietnam’s financial and industrial sectors. The Hanoi Branch will serve as a strategic base to deepen cooperation, deliver tailored financial solutions, and promote sustainable growth in the region.
