RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Nursing responsibilities:

- Plan and implement School health management protocols and procedures, for both routine and emergency situations;

- Take care of all first aid response plan including: equipment and ensure adequate supplies of first aid materials are available in the nurse’s room and that all first aid boxes for use on field trips are properly stocked;

- Maintain a complete record of accidents and treatment in the appropriate “accident report” book and advise parents of the nature of the accident and treatment administered;

- Administer medication on the written instructions of parents;

- Be fully aware of any allergies that students may have and be prepared to respond appropriately in an emergency;

- Keep track of students’ medical histories and other paperwork, including vaccination records;

- To make sure that pupils are healthy and safe on the school premises. In exceptional circumstances this could extend to administering medicine and/or taking action in an emergency, after consultation with the parents when this is possible;

- Conduct periodic checks of the school environment including the canteen and food preparation area and report to Head of School and supervisor any Health and Safety issues of concern;

- If aware of any contagious disease at school, advise Head of School and supervisor immediately;

2. Other activities:

- Promoting the general health and well-being of all pupils;

- Providing guidance and advice to staff / pupils on health education matters;

- Maintaining records of health related issues;

- Communicating and consulting with the parents of pupils on health issues;

- Communicating and cooperating with external agencies to provide the best health care support for the school;

- Other ad-hoc tasks required by line manager and Head of School.

3. Review further training and development

- Keeping up to date on professional matters relating to school nursing;

- Participating in arrangements for further training and professional development as a nurse as appropriate;

- Advising and co-operating with Head of School, supervisor and other teachers on the preparation and development of certain aspects of our Personal Social & Health Education courses.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

- Diploma/Degree from recognized Medical and Pharmaceutical School/ Colleges.

- Licensed to practice nursing in Vietnam.

- Caring, responsible, and detail oriented.

- Must be able to correctly assess patients' conditions, and determine when consultation is required.

- Emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

- Good command of English.
