On-Call Cost Estimator

Tetra Tech seeks an experienced cost estimator to provide expert cost analysis services for our work. The selected candidate will consult with our team, collect and analyze relevant data, and provide accurate estimates of project costs, including labor, production time, equipment and materials.

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of construction and mechanical processes, keen attention to detail, and advanced mathematical skills. A successful cost estimator will have the ability to see the bigger picture of a project while accurately estimating all associated costs.

Cost Estimator Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with A&E II Contractor to define the scope of work through virtual meetings, phone calls, and email.

• Identifying and quantifying all cost factors involved in the work.

• Using computer software (preparation using excel is acceptable) to calculate cost estimates.

• Preparing and presenting cost reports to A&E II Contractor.

Cost Estimator Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar field.

• Grade I certification in cost estimating.

• At least 15 years of proven work experience as a cost estimator, with strong experience in preparing construction cost estimates preferred.

• Advanced knowledge of construction and engineering processes.

• High-level mathematical skills.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Advanced analytical skills.

• Proficient with computer estimation software (preparation using Excel is acceptable).

Level of Effort

• The level of effort (LOE) will be determined during the discussion of the scope of work and finalized before the cost estimation process begins.

• The cost estimator will work remotely and provide services directly with the Tetra Tech project personnel.
