On-Call Interpreter, Translator & Communication Outreach Resource

Location: Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province (office-based with on-call remote work)

Duration: 1 January 2026 – 31 December 2026 (subject to annual review and project needs)

Status: On-call service agreement — expected ~8 hours/week in-person at the project office plus on-call availability for additional tasks

Position Summary

Tetra Tech seeks an experienced, professional Interpreter, Translator & Communication Outreach Resource to provide interpretation and translation services and support stakeholder and community communications for the Bien Hoa dioxin remediation project. The role will support technical meetings, report and correspondence translation, community consultations, and outreach materials.

Job Description

Interpretation & meeting support

Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation (English ⇄ Vietnamese) for in-person and remote meetings, site visits, and community consultations; maintain a technical glossary for consistent terminology.

Translation & documentation

Translate technical and non‑technical materials (factsheets, Q&As, signage, minutes, plans, reports, consent forms, outreach materials, correspondence) accurately and in culturally appropriate language; adapt content for community audiences.

Community communications & outreach

Draft notifications, updates, factsheets and outreach messages; act as community liaison to receive/respond to enquiries or coordinate technical answers; support delivery of the Community Engagement and Outreach Plan.

Coordination, monitoring & reporting

Work with Tetra Tech SMEs, communications staff, and GVN stakeholders to align messaging; maintain logs of requests and deliverables; produce monthly activity logs and inputs for quarterly reports; support simple metrics to track reach and accuracy.

Working Type: On-call / Office-based with remote support

- Native or near‑native fluency in Vietnamese and professional fluency in English (spoken and written).

- Proven experience in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation and in translating technical materials; prior experience with environmental or engineering terminology preferred.

- Experience in community engagement, stakeholder outreach, or communications in development or environmental projects.

- Strong facilitation, communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

- Bachelor’s degree in communications, translation, social sciences, or related field preferred.

- Ability to travel to Hanoi periodically and potential for international travel.

- Prior experience working with U.S. companies/organizations is a plus.
