Operations Manager (Logistics/ Forwarder)
Job description
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the forwarding logistics department, with a specific focus on trucking operations. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of the logistics industry. Key activities include:
1. Operational Management:
- Overseeing daily operations, including import/export processes, customs clearance, documentation, and shipment tracking;
- Managing a team of logistics professionals;
- Developing and implementing operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality;
- Monitoring and analyzing operational performance metrics;
- Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of shipments.
2. Customer Relationship Management:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders;
- Providing excellent customer service;
- Coordinating with sales and marketing teams.
3. Logistics Network Management:
- Establishing and managing a robust logistics network;
- Negotiating freight rates and contracts;
- Developing and implementing trucking strategies;
- Controlling trucking vendors;
- Monitoring and optimizing trucking costs and performance;
- Ensuring compliance with trucking regulations and safety standards.
4. Risk Management:
- Identifying and mitigating operational risks;
- Developing contingency plans;
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
5. Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluating and optimizing logistics processes;
- Implementing new technologies and systems;
- Driving process standardization and automation.
Job requirements
1. At least 5 years at Operation Manager in Ocean/Air freight field of Export/Import/Freight Forwarding Industry.
2. Diploma/Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Economy or Transport Management or equivalent.
3. Proven experience in freight forwarding and logistics operations.
4. Strong leadership and management skills.
5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Proficiency in logistics software and systems.
8. In-depth knowledge of international trade and customs regulations.
