Plant Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

As a Plant Manager of a small operation, or Senior Production Manager in a larger, more complex operation, you have the same overall purpose as a Production Manager, but on a larger scale, whether through size and complexity of the production / recycling site, team or autonomy over the operation due to geographic responsibility.

In your role you will assume overall oversight, and responsibility for the site operations to ensure the achievement of operational targets within agreed budgetary requirements. Through strong leadership ensure that the team is highly motivated and produce goods efficiently and on time at the right cost and level of quality.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and promote safe working practices and environment.

• Plan and organise production / recycling schedules in assessing project and resource requirements.

• Estimate and agree budgets and timescales between clients, on-site managers, SLT & CELT.

• Overall responsibility for NPI and scheduling of product launches.

• Achieve production / recycling targets that meet budgeted requirements with regard to quality, customer service and running procedures.

• Contribute to the bi-weekly planning meeting in order to achieve weekly production and engineering requirements and plan them into an effective working pattern.

• Ensure accurate reporting of productivity results against budgeted targets.

• Supervise and motivate staff and complete performance management reviews in line with agreed process.

• Supervise all subordinate staff covering motivation, morale and performance.

• Maintain the budgeted staffing levels by recruiting personnel within the current company recruitment procedure.

• Oversee that discipline is maintained within the shift.

• Develop Shift Managers to manage and control their individual areas of responsibility through development.

• Liaise with the Engineering, Lead Engineer and affected staff to maintain maximum productivity.

• Lead, coach and direct any site based, non-operational resources (Finance, HR, HSE, etc) to ensure compliance and efficiencies are met

• Ensure materials are managed effectively, by closely monitoring scrap production and stock movement.

• Develop and implement world class manufacturing / recycling best practices; reinforcing LEAN manufacturing principles at all levels.

• Maintain and monitor product quality within ensuring BRC standards are achieved.

• When needed due to country regulations, engage and cooperate with local authorities to ensure the site is compliant and mitigate any potential risks.

• Deputise for the Site Director as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Demonstrable experience in a medium to large fast moving consumer goods manufacturing company which will include experience in a first line management or supervisory position

- Evidence of sound mechanical aptitude

- Proven Managerial Experience of 5 years plus

- Proven track record in Lean Manufacturing and has demonstrated efficiency and cost improvements in a manufacturing set-up
