Production Manager (Injection Molding, Plastic Packaging)

Position Overview

The Production Manager is accountable for the end-to-end management of the manufacturing process, ensuring that production activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in line with company quality and cost standards. This role involves the strategic planning and supervision of day-to-day operations, resource allocation, equipment maintenance, team development, and cross-functional collaboration. The incumbent will also lead improvement projects aimed at increasing productivity, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality to meet customer expectations and business objectives.

Key Objectives & Deliverables

Ensure consistent delivery of production volumes that meet or exceed output targets

Maintain and improve product quality in line with internal and customer specifications

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production performance and cost

Oversee and support cross-departmental coordination for seamless operation

Enhance workforce capability through training and mentoring

Establish and maintain high safety, hygiene, and environmental standards

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Planning

Develop and implement comprehensive production plans aligned with sales forecasts and company strategy

Forecast resource needs including manpower, materials, and machine capacity

Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components

Production Management

Monitor the daily operation of the production floor and ensure timely execution of planned activities

Balance productivity targets with quality assurance and equipment maintenance schedules

Supervise the proper use of machines, tools, and work methods to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

People Development & Team Leadership

Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production supervisors, technicians, and operators

Create a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, and teamwork

Conduct regular performance evaluations and organize skills development programs

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

Ensure full compliance with GMP, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 (if applicable), and 5S standards

Collaborate with the QA department to address and resolve quality issues and customer complaints

Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures (CAPA)

Equipment & Maintenance Oversight

Work closely with the Maintenance team to develop preventive maintenance schedules

Reduce unplanned downtime and support quick changeover processes to minimize setup time

Drive initiatives for machine upgrades or replacement when needed

Reporting & Analysis

Track, analyze, and report key manufacturing KPIs including yield, scrap rate, downtime, and cycle time

Monitor inventory accuracy, turnover rates, and usage efficiency

Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly reports, including trend analysis and performance forecasts

Process Improvement & Cost Optimization

Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to identify inefficiencies and drive process enhancements

Lead projects aimed at reducing material loss, rework, and non-value-added activities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cost-saving projects and productivity boosts

Machine downtime and changeover time

Scrap and rework rates

Training hours per employee and staff turnover

Customer complaint frequency and resolution time

Qualifications & Competencies

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related technical field

Additional certifications in Lean Six Sigma or industrial process management are advantageous

Professional Experience:

At least 3–5 years of experience in a production management role within plastic manufacturing

Experience in HDPE, injection molding, or blow molding is highly preferred

Proven background working under ISO 9001 standards; knowledge of FSSC 22000 is a plus

Technical & Soft Skills:

Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, workflows, and productivity metrics

Strong command of production planning tools and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation and regulatory compliance

Effective communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members at all levels

Good English proficiency for documentation and cross-functional coordination
