Purpose of position

Responsible for managing, organizing and delivering a large range of projects, both local and international, in accordance with IPM methodology, quality, environmental and safety standards.

Key accountabilities

1. Supervision of lifting/transport activities / safety & quality:

• Supervises the safe execution of the project on site and observe the QEHS regulations:

- Performs regular QEHS inspections and submits reports

- Holds toolbox meetings: pre-job toolboxes, heavy lift toolboxes, periodic toolboxes, etc. with own staff, with subcontractors and with client

- Reports incidents and potential for accidents in accordance with the Sarens safety policy

• Is responsible for the implementation of the safety policy of Sarens on site

• Day-to-day site supervision

• Has contact with the client on day-to-day practical issues

• Controls and manages the activities of subcontractors

• Supervises maintenance on site and checks the fleet/equipment conditions that will be used for the project

• Accounts for equipment certificates / ensures equipment is certified for the duration of the project

2. Work preparation and project follow up:

• Work preparation: Collects the data required for engineering, ensuring it is complete and sufficient for execution

• Communication: Manages internal communications concerning the project

• Planning: Orders and ensures delivery of equipment, personnel and transport within Sarens Group or from third parties

• Operational:

- Organizes and prepares the project, based on budget, scope & timing and in line with Sarens IPM methodology

- Manages and follows-up the application of work permits, visa, site access requirements, ...

- Initiates Starts-up and follows-up action at sites

3. Contractual follow up: Compares actual scope, budget and planning with contractual scope, identifies discrepancies or anomalies and reports accordingly

4. Financial Management:

• Monitors closely and controls the budget (P&L), daily cost and revenue during execution

• Ensures the required data and reports are available for preparing invoices

• Processes incoming invoices

5. Administration, reporting & others:

• Updates records (hard copy as digital copy) i.e. project map, project safety file, project lists, etc. and ensures safe and secure storage while remaining accessible

Required qualifications:

1. Education:

• Master degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience

• A vocational qualification in project management e.g. PMP

2. Experience: >2 years practical experience in operations, on sites with lifting activities or with assembling activities, in one or more of these industries: petrochemicals, civil works, energy, telecommunications

3. Languages: Excellent working knowledge of English (speaking, understanding, reading)

4. IT Skills:

• Excellent working knowledge of English (speaking, understanding, reading)

• MS Office including Word, excel, outlook, internet

• Basic knowledge of Autocad

• MS Projects

5. Legal requirements:

• Medical certificate

• Safety certificate (e.g. VOL-VCA, UIC, CSCS, ...)

• Valid driver’s license

• Valid international passport; no obvious restrictions for international travel

6. Required technical competencies

• In-depth knowledge of Sarens project methodology

• Able to manage several projects at the same time of appropriate size and scope

• Performs basic calculations concerning ground pressures, wind influences, stability, etc.

• Basic knowledge of the operation and specifications of Sarens equipment

• Able to determine the capacity of a crane and perform a correct positioning

• Excellent knowledge of lifting equipment: different types, when to use and lifting capacities

• Basic knowledge of mechanics and hydraulics
