Quality Assurance/ Product Engineer

Summary of Position

The Quality Assurance role will ensure that Anon specifications are communicated clearly to Burton’s suppliers and will oversee the industrialization of the products from prototypes through manufacturing of finished product. This position will assist suppliers by driving their development and production timelines through daily interaction to ensure that they can deliver high quality products in accordance with Burton’s delivery requirements. In addition, they will regularly identify risk exposure related to materials, processes, schedules, sub-suppliers, etc. and drive action plans by coordinating with factory personnel and Burton staff in order to mitigate the associated risk.

Essential Functions

Industrialization and Product Development

1. Work closely with Anon team and its suppliers to ensure that product development activities are completed on schedule and that the desired outcomes are achieved.

2. Drive development projects at Supplier in order to meet Anon development and production timelines.

3. Provide manufacturing assistance to factories to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement best practices.

4. Promptly communicate any issues that affect quality, development, production, or delivery schedules appropriate Anon team members.

5. Monitor and report on the status of new tooling and revisions, keeping development on schedule.

6. Monitor production schedules at each factory to ensure the production schedules are met.

7. Utilize specific management and tracking tools instituted by the Development manager and/or Manufacturing Engineer in order to manage, track, and record activities at the supplier. (Goal of on-time sample delivery, on-time production start-up, and timely use of Milestone tracker, ECR and Manufacturing Approval Tracker tools.)

8. Provide manufacturing expertise to assist suppliers exceed Anon specifications.

9. Work with suppliers and Anon manufacturing engineers to identify, source, and validate new manufacturing processes, materials, finishing techniques, and suppliers targeting higher quality, better performance, increased manufacturing flexibility, improved cosmetics, shorter lead times, and lower costs.

10. Provide cost/benefit analysis of any suggested improvements to design to improve manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.

11. Maintain regular records of key documents from all Asian Anon factories on Burton’s server.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Quality

1. Responsible for working with the factories to ensure that all finished products will meet the product specifications, safety standards & in a timely manner to support on-time delivery.

2. Responsible for onsite factory IQC and in-process quality audit. On site QA/PE needs to spend time in production for in-process audit to check parts or finished products.

3. Responsible for inspecting FAV using final Specs from developer, report detailed result.

4. Responsible for monitoring Anon testing including IQC/In process/finished products ASTM/CE tests and send reports to the Quality and CFT.

5. Responsible for reporting quality and testing issues to quality team and work together with the factory to analyze root causes and coordinate communication between factory and quality team.

6. Responsible for final shipment inspections and submit inspection reports in QA APP, report out if any major issues to Hardgoods QAM/ Senior Global QAM and other CFT or as needed.

7. Responsible for monitoring Scrap process, make sure that Burton scrap procedures are being followed at assigned factory.

8. Responsible for working with Burton Global Supply Chain team on issues which could affect PO ex-factory date.

9. Responsible for arranging & sending the test samples as required to designated testing sites. Follow up to ensure all tests are passed.

10. Responsible for reporting any non-compliance issues found during factory visits and inspections.

11. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned by direct and indirect superiors.

Delivery

1. Coordinate and drive tracking of development via development milestone tracker and publish a weekly status update to development manager and the team in US.

2. Ensure factories are operating at sustainable capacity that ensures timely/accurate deliveries by PO. What this could entail is to find and implement the best practices that lead to improved PO accuracy.

3. Any and all AF either at Burton or Vendor's cost should be minimized on finished goods.

4. AF should also be reduced (or ideally eliminated) from all mass production supply from nominated suppliers.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree

• 2 years of working experience (project engineer, project management, manufacturing engineer, development, Quality auditor, Quality Engineer)

• Experience with assembled products and mechanical assemblies.

• Goggle/Helmet experience is preferred.

• Positive team player, open minded attitude, good interpersonal and communication skills. Flexible to changes.

• Reliable, self-starter with good time management skills.

Management responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory or management responsibilities.

This position reports directly to the Quality manager with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Supply Chain manager.
