R&D Packaging Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisor

This role is responsible for initiating, designing, and directing packaging research and development (R&D) programs to drive innovation for company products. This role oversees packaging development and implementation, ensuring the successful execution of new packaging solutions while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead packaging innovation projects, including the initiation, design, and execution of R&D programs.

• Oversee packaging development activities, driving innovation and the creation of new solutions.

• Foster and maintain effective working relationships with internal cross-functional teams and external packaging suppliers.

+ Manage the daily activities of a research team, including:

+ Designing research methods.

+ Setting up laboratory test equipment.

+ Developing models and prototypes.

+ Calculating and analyzing test results.

+ Preparing technical documents.

+ Designing prototypes.

• Ensure packaging products meet all required specifications by validating materials and finished packages through factory performance testing (real-time, lab-based, ship testing, and technology transfer).

• Network with current and potential suppliers to provide technical guidance on new materials and equipment.

• Conduct vendor assessments for quality system checks and implement necessary improvements.

• Execute multidisciplinary packaging development projects in response to given briefs.

• Develop and build sustainable capabilities within the R&D packaging team through coaching and training.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

• Years of relevant experience in similar positions: 4-10 years depending on job levels.

• Strong knowledge of packaging research methodologies and development processes.

• Experience in managing packaging innovation projects and leading R&D teams.

• Proficiency in supplier networking, quality assessments, and vendor management.

• Ability to develop high-quality technical documentation and oversee performance testing.

• Good communication skills in English, particularly in the field of R&D.
