Research and Teaching Assistant in Finance

Daily responsibilities

§ Assisting in teaching (average 4h-8h/week):

§ Formulating plan and contents of tutorials and carrying out tutorials and exercises

§ Maintaining and developing database of lecture slides, examinations and exercises

§ Assisting in research, prepare research proposals: working on research project(s) assigned by the supervisor, and assisting in and contributing to the overall research of the research group

§ Assisting in administration

Ø Ensuring the smooth running of equipment necessary to achieve the aims of the lectures and exercises (e.g. computers, software packages, electronic journals, library)

Ø Preparing and managing correspondence, documents and reports

Ø Implementing and maintaining office and filing systems

Ø Supporting the flying faculty in terms of organization of the stay and implementation of the lectures, exercises and practices.

Periodic/ Irregular responsibilities

§ Contributing to the development and implementation of other course programs in consultation with the study program coordinator and the partner university, as assigned by the supervisor

§ Supervising of students in their study projects and final theses

§ Maintaining the homepage of the study program

§ Taking, typing and distributing minutes of meetings

§ Organizing and coordinating of internal and external events (meetings, conferences, research seminars, mini courses, travel arrangements)

Other duties

§ Acting as invigilator for exams of all study programs, if required

§ Implementing other duties as assigned by the supervisor

1. Qualification

• Master’s degree in Finance, Empirical Finance, Corporate Finance

2. Knowledge

• Good knowledge in related disciplines focus on Finance or other areas closely related to it

3. Skills

• English: at least equivalent to IELTS 6.5

• Experience with statistical software STATA, EVIEWS or R, and programming languages such as Python, R, and C

• Ability to work independently, systematically and in a practice-oriented manner

• Ability to work on own initiatives and to deadlines

• Ability to work as part of a team

• Ability to present information to groups as well as individuals

4. Experience

• Master’s degree

• Experience in teaching support is preferable

• Experience in working with industry is preferable
