Research and Teaching Assistant (RTA) in Water Chemistry

Job Description

Assisting in teaching, research activities and administrative affairs.

Daily responsibilities

• Assisting in teaching 120 AH/academic year:

• Formulating plan and contents of tutorials and carrying out tutorials and exercises

• Maintaining and developing database of lecture slides, examinations and exercises

• Assisting in research, preparing research proposals: working on research project(s) assigned by the supervisor, and assisting in and contributing to the overall research of the research group

• Co-supervise Bachelor's theses

• Assisting in administration

 Ensure that teaching and research equipment is functioning effectively for lectures, exercises, and practical sessions (e.g. computers, software packages, electronic journals, library)

 Prepare and manage correspondence, documents and reports for research and publication

 Support flying faculty in implementation of the lectures, exercises and practicals

 Support the program in organizing events such as student recruitment activities, workshops, seminars, STEM events, and lab tours etc.

• Working on own research for PhD (in the next 1 to 2 years)

Periodic/ Irregular responsibilities

• Contributing to the development and implementation of other course programs in consultation with the study program coordinator and the partner university, as assigned by the supervisor

• Supervising of students in their study projects and final theses

• Presenting of research ideas and results in internal VGU seminars

• Presenting of research ideas and results at scientific conferences

• Maintaining the homepage of the study program and the intranet platform

• Taking, typing and distributing minutes of meetings

• Assisting the supervisor, program coordinator to organize and coordinate the internal and external events (meetings, conferences, research seminars, mini courses, travel arrangements)

Other duties

• Acting as invigilator for exams of all study programs, if required

• Implementing other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements:

Qualification: Master Degree in related disciplines. English: at least equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (IELTS 6.5 or higher is preferable).

Knowledge: Good knowledge in related disciplines

Skills

• Knowing German language is an advantage

• Ability to work independently, systematically and in a practice-oriented manner

• Ability to work on own initiatives and to deadlines

• Ability to work as part of a team

• Ability to present information to groups as well as individuals

Experience

Master degree, qualified to conduct PhD

Experience in teaching support is preferable

Experience in working with industry is preferable

Work location: Vietnamese – German University, Ring Road 4, Quarter 4, Thoi Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (Old address: Ben Cat City, Binh Duong).

Working time: 8:30 – 16:30 Monday - Friday
