Safety (EHS) Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The EHS Engineer is responsible for overseeing and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with local regulations in manufacturing plant. This role involves conducting risk assessments, training employees, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

An EHS Engineer is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying and mitigating workplace hazards, developing and delivering safety training programs, investigating accidents to determine root causes, overseeing waste management and sustainability initiatives, coordinating emergency response plans, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance.

Major Actions and Support Actions

• Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards.

• Training: Develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, emergency response, and environmental regulations.

• Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

• Safety Programs: Develop and implement safety programs and policies to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.

• Environmental Management: Oversee waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.

• Reporting: Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports to regulatory agencies.

• Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency response plans and drills.

• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with plant management and employees to promote a culture of safety.

Educational requirements, Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

- Experience in managing EHS-related projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation, is beneficial.

- Experience in an industrial setting with demonstrated participation in EHS processes, auditing, and compliance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Knowledge:

• Regulatory Compliance: with local regulations, corporate and industrial sector.

• Environmental Science: Knowledge of environmental science principles and practices.

• Safety Management Systems: Familiarity with safety management systems like ISO 45001.

Skills:

• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety policies and procedures.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions.

• Leadership: Capability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring compliance and promoting a safety culture across company.
