School Nurse (Y Tá Nhà Trường)

RESPONSIBILITY:

To undertake health-care and nursing services in a timely and professional manner to effectively control and minimize health problems and incidents of the school students.

Advise on such issues (age appropriate):

• Exercise and healthy eating.

• Mental health and wellbeing, including dealing with depression and bullying.

• Se-xual health and relationships, including teenage pregnancy.

• Smoking, drug and alcohol abuse.

Other Responsibilities:

• Actively support and adhere to the Child Protection Policy, including attending annual training.

• Other tasks assigned by the lined managers.

Key Performance Areas:

• Manage and control the Health Department at school.

• Control and provide the Health & First Aid (H&FA) services to students and staff.

• Build up all health procedures and regulations related by working closely with school Board of Management.

• Maintain all H&FA areas as safe and functional, including but not limited to restocking essential medical supplies for on and off site needs.

• Maintain health records of students with confidentiality.

• Liaise and advise parents as and when necessary on matters concerning their child.

• Maintain a clean and healthy school environment.

• Establish policies to meet health emergencies.

• Assess the health needs of the School community and develop health plans.

• Provide confidential health advice for individual children.

• Support, advise, counsel children experiencing mental health problems.

• Promote good parenting skills by helping and supporting parents.

• Support vulnerable children by working alongside teachers and other professionals.

• Provide training for school-based staff to support children with healthcare needs, such as asthma, allergies, diabetes or epilepsy.

• Contribute to the personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum.

• Provide advice for parents, carers and school staff on childhood illnesses and the management and control of infectious diseases.

• Ensure that all necessary medical information is provided to the staff taking students off-campus for field trips and school camps.

Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in a relevant discipline.

• Have certificate and further training about First Aid, CPR and other relevant skills shall be advantage.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience required. Previous experience of working in an international school is desired yet not essential.

• Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

• Good communication skill (verbal & written) in English & Vietnamese.

• Honest, detailed, dynamic and good organizer.

• Good ability to work independently and good team member.

• Perform duties effectively with many demands on time and constant interruptions.
