Senior Application Engineer

** Department: Modernization Design Department (MDC)
** Reporting to position: MDC Manager, System Engineering
** Objectives of the function:
- Assist the MDC Manager, System Engineering in maintaining smooth day-to-day operation of MDC Application Engineering Section by ensuring that the application engineers perform their daily tasks efficiently, on time and in accordance with Schindler and International Standards.
- Preform independently the customized design and solution engineering.
- Provide technical support to both internal system engineering and layout engineering departments and external customers.

** Responsibilities:
* Application Engineering:
- Perform Application Engineering (AE) in line with Group directions (Norm, TK and ESS), International and Local Codes and Standards, MDC Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Perform calculations for non-standard elevators using Schindler Group and MDC Local approved tools e.g. car weight/ machine/ guiderail/ separator beams
- Ensure the system engineering ad layout engineering jobs are conducted by aligning the correct and up-to-date Group and JSG local calculation tools and instruction.
- Define elevator and component specification.
- Select the elevator components from Schindler TK’s, Product Line Component Specification and authorized 3rd Party Safety components.
- Where required, prepare schematic drawings using AutoCAD and SchindlerDraw.
- Check own AE calculations and solutions before submitting for approval on MDC Database (MDC DB).
- Perform technical checks and approval of non-standard Application Engineering solutions.
- Apply 4-Eye principal when preparing drawings and calculations and ensure signed off by both Originator and Checker.

* Costing and Order Preparation:
- Where necessary provide factory costs non-standard solutions

* MDC Instructions (Guidelines):
- When necessary, prepare MDC Instructions to enable Sales Engineers and layout engineers to apply pre-approved technical solutions for Tenders and Orders.

* Local Calculation/ Order Tools:
- When necessary, prepare Local Tools for Sales Engineers and layout engineers to be able to perform pre-approved calculations for Tenders and Orders.

** Planning and Supervision
- Carry out planning and supervision of MDC team members in absence of Manager Application Engineering.
- Ensure that all engineering projects and enquiries from OC Sales and Layout Engineering Departments are prepared and issued in line with the target dates set in the MDC Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Check and approve solutions prepared by the MDC AEs’ in the MDC DB.
- Ensure all relevant documents are filed in the defined sections in MDC I-Drive and MDC DB.
- Provide directions and guidance to application engineers.
- Provide training to application engineers (where applicable).
