Senior Design Engineer Cum. Project Assistant Manager

Job Purpose

The Design Engineer is primarily responsible for managing design activities and supporting tender and construction phases. This role ensures effective coordination with design consultants, timely and compliant design deliverables, and clash-free integration across disciplines. The Design Engineer also applies feedback from operations and leasing teams and maintains design standards while continuously updating them to meet project and market requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage design and permit process including conceptual design, planning design, basic design, tender design, construction design, and construction permit.

• Ensure coordinated, conflict-free integration across all design disciplines (architecture, structure, infrastructure, MEP, fire safety, LEED, landscape).

• Ensure compliance with company design standard and expectation, authority requirement, fire safety requirement.

• Develop, recommend and control schedule and plan of design and permit, timely delivery of design deliverables and approvals of authorities.

• Assist Project Manager in developing or updating Special Contract Conditions during tender and contract administration.

• Administer and coordinate design consultants in accordance with contract terms.

• Monitor scope of work of design and permit consultant, especially the duties of design consultant provided in each construction package.

• Review and verify design documentation, including structural, MEP, and fire safety calculations and specifications. Ensure consistency between calculations, drawings, and across disciplines.

• Manage resolution of design conflicts during both design and construction stages.

• Ensure proper authorship supervision of design consultant during construction stage.

• Ensure proper design combination by the Contractor during construction stage.

• Support in analyzing Support technical evaluations and design-related clarifications during the tender stage.

• Prepare regular reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly), project completion reports, and ad hoc reports for company leadership and authorities.

• Coordinate with the Business Development team to provide concept design information.

• Document and apply lesson learned to future design works.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Electrical Engineering.

• Experience: minimum 10 years of experience working in the construction field, industrial project, having worked as a design management or participate designer for at least 1 project;

• Valid Design Practice License (Grade 2 or above) and/or Project Management Practice License (Grade 2 or above)

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office.

• Familiar with FIDIC conditions, local construction regulations, HSE standards, LEED requirement.

• Strong coordination, communication, and reporting skills.

• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
