Senior Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the stable, safe, and efficient operation of all terminal equipment by planning, supervising, evaluating, and continuously improving maintenance and repair activities—thereby supporting uninterrupted terminal operations and optimizing equipment operating costs.

MAIN TASKS

1, Equipment Maintenance Planning Management

1.1 Develop preventive maintenance schedules for all port equipment (RTG, STS, Reach stacker, prime movers, power supply systems, etc.)

1.2 Ensure that maintenance activities are carried out safely, on schedule, and in accordance with technical standards.

1.3 Coordinate with relevant departments such as Operations, IT, etc. to ensure maintenance schedules do not affect operations.

2, Inspection and Monitoring equipment status at the Port

2.1 Routinely inspect and assess actual equipment condition through operation logs, failure reports, and on-site observation.

2.2 Establish and maintain a complete equipment registry with details such as type, technical specs, year of manufacture, and current status.

2.3 Track warranty periods and coordinate warranty claims when issues occur within coverage.

2.4 Plan preventive and corrective maintenance, categorize tasks by priority and risk level.

3, Contractor Management and Performance Oversight

3.1 Collaborate with the procurement department to define contractor selection criteria (technical capability, experience, safety, legal compliance, financial health).

3.2 Monitor progress, quality, and safety during contractor-performed maintenance or repairs.

3.3 Prepare acceptance reports and verify completed work before approving payment.

3.4 Evaluate contractor performance after each maintenance phase: timeline, quality, safety, coordination.

3.5 Coordinate to improve processes and propose cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing solutions.

4, Inspect, monitor, compile statistics, prepare technical and safety documentation, and report on the progress of equipment maintenance and repair.

4.1 Create technical files for each equipment item, including specifications, drawings, manuals, operation and maintenance procedures, maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, technical documents, and inspection logs.

4.2 Coordinate with the HSE department to organize and manage safety documentation, including equipment safety instructions, inspection history, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.

4.3 Develop and submit regular reports detailing the maintenance condition of port equipment, accomplished tasks, and planned activities. Recommend technical solutions to improve efficiency and extend equipment lifespan.

5, Safety, Compliance, and Coordination

5.1 Ensure all maintenance activities comply with HSE standards and local regulations.

5.2 Coordinate with Operations, HSE, and IT departments to align maintenance schedules with port operations.

5.3 Participate in internal audits, safety drills, and improvement initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

1, Qualifications and Certificates:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

2, Experience:

- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a port, terminal, or industrial facility.

3, Skills:

- Solid understanding of the working principles and structures of port equipment such as RTGs, STS cranes, reach stacker, prime movers, and electro-hydraulic systems.

- Experience in managing contractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary maintenance works.

- Strong skills in planning and supervising equipment maintenance, servicing, and repairs.

- Ability to analyze equipment data (failures, cost, performance) to evaluate and improve operational efficiency.

- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.

- Ability to read and analyze technical drawings, electrical/hydraulic diagrams, and OEM manuals.

- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other departments in a fast-paced port environment.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with contractors and suppliers.
