Senior IT Manager

1. Education and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

- Advanced Degree (Optional): A Master’s degree in IT, Business Administration (MBA), Logistics, or a related field can be advantageous.

- Certifications: Industry certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and logistics-related certifications like Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) can be beneficial.

2. Technical Skills:

- Network and Systems Management: Proficiency in managing and maintaining computer networks and systems, including freight management systems (FMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).

- Cybersecurity: Knowledge of security protocols, firewalls, antivirus, disaster recovery plans, and compliance with industry-specific security standards.

- Database Management: Experience with database systems like SQL, Oracle, and MySQL, especially in the context of logistics data.

- Software Development: Understanding of software development processes, methodologies (e.g., Agile), and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) used in logistics applications.

- Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their applications in logistics and supply chain management.

- EDI (Electronic Data Interchange): Knowledge of EDI standards and protocols for exchanging business documents electronically between companies.

- ERP Systems: Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, especially those tailored for logistics and freight forwarding (e.g., SAP, Oracle Transportation Management).

3. Industry-Specific Knowledge:

- Freight Forwarding Processes: In-depth understanding of freight forwarding processes, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, transportation, and warehousing.

- Logistics Software: Familiarity with logistics and freight forwarding software solutions like CargoWise, Descartes, or similar platforms.

- Regulations and Compliance: Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs requirements, and compliance standards relevant to the logistics industry.

4. Managerial Skills:

- Leadership: Ability to lead and manage a team of IT professionals, providing direction, support, and motivation.

- Project Management: Experience in planning, executing, and overseeing IT projects specific to logistics and freight forwarding from inception to completion.

- Strategic Planning: Capability to develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company’s logistics operations and business goals.

- Budget Management: Proficiency in managing IT budgets, optimizing costs, and making financial decisions related to IT investments in the logistics context.

- Vendor Management: Experience in managing relationships with third-party vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring service quality.

5. Communication Skills:

- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, clients, and other stakeholders.

- Technical Documentation: Skills in creating and maintaining technical documentation, user manuals, and reports tailored to logistics processes.

- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues impacting logistics operations.

6. Experience:

- Work Experience: Several years of experience in IT roles, preferably within the logistics or supply chain industry, with progressively increasing responsibilities.

- Management Experience: Proven experience in managing IT teams and projects within a logistics or freight forwarding environment.

- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of industry-specific IT requirements and regulations, such as C-TPAT, AEO, or similar programs.

- Policy Development: Ability to develop and enforce IT policies and procedures that ensure compliance and security within the logistics sector.

9. Continuous Learning:

- Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development to stay current with technological advancements and industry trends in logistics and freight forwarding.

- Experience : 8-10 years experience at IT, experience in logistics industry is a plus

- Education background in Technology and Management

- Willing to be on-side and work on-field in long term

- Excellent oral and written English communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively

with all levels of management;

- Good skills in presentation, interpretation, facilitation, team management and other soft

skills;
