Senior Lab Specialist (Footwear)

This position is mainly responsible for:

• Assisting with lab manager on the implementation of Deckers test methods and standards to all the assigned T1 / T2 labs.

• Ensuring that the shoe factory labs and accredited T2 bottom/upper suppliers are testing and following Deckers test methods and standards.

• Tracking and summarizing the test results from T1 / T2 labs or 3rd party labs for analysis.

• Monitoring factory labs test capacity regularly and keep tracking for improvement.

• Supporting lab team for key projects, LTS update and maintenance, BIS audit, SASO & ES implementation and other related projects.

• Making analysis of test data and provide solutions for quality issues regarding lab test.

Lead and monitor FW T1 labs for proper lab operation

- Assist with the program of factory lab key technicians/leaders training of Deckers Test Methods/standards and certifying for Deckers testing.

- Ensure the factory labs which are assigned to her are using the Deckers test methods/standards and interpreting all the test methods the same way to the factory labs when an updated test method or standard is issued out.

- Work closely with factory lab leaders and management to ensure that the labs are properly equipped of the necessary test machines/equipment in accordance with the product they are producing.

- Conduct yearly factory lab training to have an integrated evaluation of the labs located in Asia in terms of test procedures, reports, operation, layout, calibration, manpower, machinery, 6S and document filing

- Conduct random audit (on-site or remotely) to the factory labs when needed.

- Support team to conduct yearly correlation test among T1 labs.

- Guide and monitor the implementation of Deckers Enterprise Test

Methods/Standards (ES) and SASO.

- Keep tracking with the lab testing capacity

- Coordinate and guide T1 factories to do proper evaluation plan of DC and production lab re-location, testing scope expansion and transfer.

- Monitor the implementation of the Testing To Performance to all T1 dev-com labs.

Lead and coordinate FW T2 accredited labs to meet Deckers lab requirements

- Work with team on the program of new T2 upper / bottom labs set-up, training and accreditation.

- Monitor the certified T2 lab performance of certified technicians, equipment, calibration (internal & external calibration), lab layout.

- Coordinate with Deckers material team and bottom team for the accredited T2 suppliers to do proper evaluation plan of lab re-location and testing scope expansion.

- Conduct the correlation test with T2 labs at least once a year.

- Conduct random or yearly audit to the certified T2 labs and drive for corrective action plan.

Provide data collection and analysis for decision making

- Collect and provide data analysis to support problem solving for Lab senior manager and other teams

- Provide technical support of lab testing, summary, and analysis of materials / shoes to the stakeholders for decision.

- Work with factory labs for test data collection, then analyze and prepare for the proposal for SA standard setting.

- Learn with DOFOSS team and use Power BI for effective use of lab data analysis from LTS

Support BUs

- Collaborate with the BU and material teams on new materials / new shoes construction testing and provide support for testing if needed.

- Attend the product review each season with PD team and raise up the quality concern of the materials used in the developing styles and new constructions.

Work with 3rd party labs in China to support material / finished shoes development

- Review the test reports from Deckers approved 3rd party labs and make sure they follow up Deckers requirement for Deckers testing there (for the test application from FW T1 materials / final products)., guide and request for immediate improvement.

Create new test methods and update the existing Deckers test methods and standards

- Search industrial test methodology and create Deckers test methods for new materials or new structure of shoes.

- Always review Deckers Test Methods to keep all of them latest version and meeting the needs of quality assurance.

- Collect the feedback from test methods users within/outside of Deckers and apply for update if necessary.

- New methods creation and update when needed.

- Track and coordinate with the approved machine suppliers on lab equipment upgradation, calibration manual update, T1/T2 labs equipment & reference materials purchasing and tracking.

Coordinate for LTS iteration and optimization

- Monitor and make sure all test reports created through LTS system and support to do update once needed.

Lead and play teamwork for accomplishment of key projects to achieve team goals

- Deckers enterprise test methods / standards update /review; Support team for BIS preparation, Test TO Performance preparation, test competence tracking and other projects.

- Must be a College Graduate or above

- Have 5-8 years work experience in FW or 3rd party laboratory.

- 1-2 years lab testing experience in shoes.

- Familiar of shoes making processes is preferred.

- Good English skills.

- Candidates must be available for business travel.
