Senior Political Officer (LE5)

The Embassy of Australia in Hanoi is looking for a talented and energetic individual to fulfil the position of Senior Political Officer (LE5). A merit list from this recruitment exercise may be used to fill similar positions over the next 18 months from the date of advertisement.

Working for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Senior Political Officer primary function is to undertake a wide range of research, analysis and reporting with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific, including regional engagement, supporting bilateral visits and events, and providing aid program management support.

Applicants should have knowledge and experience in conducting research, analysis and preparing high-quality written reports on foreign policy, strategic and security issues, as well as global and regional multilateral architecture, including ASEAN, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in a cross-cultural context (in both English and Vietnamese), including high-level interpretation, policy dialogue, networking, and negotiation skills.

The successful applicant will be offered an initial contract for a 12-month period with an option to renew the contract for another 12 months or Ongoing/Permanent Employment. The Embassy will consider flexible work arrangements. The full-time monthly gross salary ranges from VND 47,022,339 to VND 52,924,057, depending on skills and experience.
