Shadow Teacher

Job Summary:

The Shadow Teacher provides tailored support to individual students to enhance their educational experience and assist them in achieving their academic and personal goals. The role involves working closely with the classroom teacher and other support staff to ensure that the student can fully participate in classroom activities and benefit from the school’s curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

Individual Support:

• Provide one-on-one support to the assigned student(s) during lessons, helping them to engage with the curriculum and complete tasks.

• Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the specific needs of the student.

Collaboration:

• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to plan and implement strategies that support the student’s learning and development.

• Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals as needed to ensure a cohesive support plan.

Behavioral Support:

• Implement strategies to support the student’s behavior and emotional well-being, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.

• Monitor and record the student’s progress, behavior, and any concerns, reporting these to the classroom teacher and other relevant staff.

Resource Management:

• Assist in the preparation and modification of educational materials and resources to support the student’s learning needs.

• Ensure that any necessary accommodations or modifications are made for classroom activities and assessments.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Regularly assess and document the student’s progress and development, providing feedback to the classroom teacher and other relevant staff.

• Contribute to the creation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or similar support plans.

Training and Development:

• Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.

Education:

• Relevant degree or qualification, e.g., Degree in Education, Psychology, or related field; Teaching Assistant qualification; or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Prior experience working with children or students with special educational needs is highly desirable.

Skills:

• Working Proficiency in English and Vietnamese is essential.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

• Ability to adapt teaching methods and strategies to meet individual learning needs.

• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with diverse needs.

• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Working Conditions:

- Starting date: Monday 21st October 2024

- Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

- Environment: Classroom setting Grade 1 within Vietnam Tinh Hoa with occasional meetings and training sessions.
