Job Description

A. Principal duties:

Manage the software team with its 25-30 members by ensuring they efficiently deliver great software which has high quality, is performant, according to requirements, is secure and is within time and cost budget

The technology department of SPS Vietnam delivers document processing projects for use by SPS Vietnam as well as for SPS affiliates in Europe, US and Asia.

B. Responsibilities:

The Software Manager will manage a team with 25-30 members. The team implements new projects and maintenance existing projects. Depending on the project the team develops the entire project itself or will cooperate with teams from other SPS countries in Europe and US.

The main responsibilities would be as following:
• Delivery: Ensure the team efficiently deliver great software which has high quality, is performant, according to requirements, is secure and is within time and cost budget. Focus on creating maximum value for business instead of chasing the perfect technical solution
• Innovate: Drive innovation by ensuring the team tries out new technologies and applies the ones which bring clear benefit
• Develop: Develop both soft and technical skills of the whole team
• Improve: Improve how the team is working and interacting with others (processes, tools, culture, responsibilities)
• People management: Lead the team consisting of software developers, Product Owners and Team Leaders (coaching, 1on1, motivation, recruitment, development, appraisal, propositions, etc.)
• Manage & plan: Provide objectives and responsibilities Plan and manage resources, utilization and cost.

Job Requirements

*** Education:
• University Degree in Information Technology

*** Technology skills and experience:
• Strong software development experience and skills
o Enterprise technology stacks, J2EE is a plus
o Web development technologies
o Software development life cycle and methodologies
o Experience in Product development and Product lifecycle management is a plus
o Knowledge of relevant best practices and security standards (e.g. ISO27001)

• At least 5 years direct experience in software development and/or programming design and 2 year experience in software development management;

*** Soft-skills:
• Very strong leadership skills:
o Can build trust with team and senior management
o Can coach, develop, challenge, push and motivate team
o Proactive instead of reactive
o Takes over full responsibility for his team and the deliverables but can also delegate
o Comfortable to make decisions
o Reliable and responsive
o Identifies and helps to fix gaps in process and/or way of working
• Experience with leading teams
• Very strong English and overall communication skills
• Strong logical thinker, so can challenge solutions from a business/customer point of view
• Ambition to grow, develop, fail and learn
