System Team Leader

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic System Team Leader to spearhead our security operations while also overseeing IT Helpdesk and Support functions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data. You will be responsible for conducting thorough security audits, leading compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA), and proactively managing threat detection and incident response efforts.

As a key stakeholder in our technology landscape, you will drive system hardening efforts, guide secure infrastructure upgrades, and develop strategic plans to stay ahead of evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a strong leadership presence and a passion for building resilient systems and teams. You will also lead and mentor cross-functional IT support teams, ensuring high service standards while aligning operational practices with security best practices.

What You Will Do:

• Security Operations & Auditing: Conduct regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities, inefficiencies, and policy violations. Proactively identify and resolve potential and actual security incidents.

• System Hardening & Upgrades: Design, implement, and upgrade secure network and infrastructure systems, ensuring robust security controls are integrated from inception.

• Compliance & Governance: Lead efforts to maintain and review documentation for certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 (if applicable). Ensure ongoing compliance with data privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA.

• Threat Intelligence & Analysis: Analyze high volumes of security logs, network data, and other attack artifacts to detect and respond to threats effectively.

• Strategic Security Planning: Assess the current security landscape, evaluate emerging trends, and anticipate future security requirements to evolve our defense strategies.

• Reporting & Communication: Prepare performance reports and communicate system status to keep stakeholders informed of our security posture.

• Quality & Standards Adherence: Maintain high-quality service by adhering to and enforcing organizational security standards and best practices.

1. Education background requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education/work experience.

2. Experience/Industry requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in IT and security domains, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or lead security role.

• Proven hands-on experience as a Cyber Security Specialist or in a similar role focused on operational security.

• Demonstrated expertise with vulnerability scanning solutions and managing anti-virus/anti-malware security software.

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and secure cloud infrastructure principles.

• In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
