Hanoi International School opened in Sept/1996, with the present school building opening in 2000. It was built to provide an international modeled education for elementary to secondary children of foreigners living and working in Vietnam. More recently it has also welcomed enrollment from Vietnamese national children. Hanoi International School is one of the official members of the International Baccalaureate Organization – IBO from Jan/1997, The University of Cambridge Examinations Syndicate, Council of International Schools – CIS, the New England (USA) Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Mekong River Association of International Schools (MRISA). At present, the academic program at Hanoi International School is approved by IBO for the Elementary School (IBPYP) and the IB Diploma at Grades 11 and 12. In Grades 6-10 it prepares students for the Cambridge University Examinations Syndicate IGCSE examinations.
