The purpose of the Women in STEMM Research and Teaching Pre-Doctoral Fellowship opportunities is to advance research activity at RMIT Vietnam, and also to increase RMIT University’s cohort of offshore HDR students. The initiative is a combined Pre-doctoral/Teaching Fellowship program available to talented female graduates in STEMM in Vietnam. This forms the first of our Athena SWAN initiatives at RMIT Vietnam, with the objective of increasing women's participation in STEMM and addressing the pipeline of women into academia and then into senior leadership positions.
Supervision of the PhD candidates will occur through partnership arrangements between RMIT Melbourne academics and either RMIT Vietnam academics or academics from other university/research institutes in Vietnam with which we have existing collaborations. The Pre-doctoral program will run for 4 years (as per the Australia based Indigenous Pre-doctoral Program), weighted towards the completion of the PhD, and with a parallel teaching commitment. 80% research and 20% teaching.
Subject to satisfactory completion of the PhD qualification and excellence in their teaching and learning activities, Fellows will be offered a full-time fixed term position as a member of academic staff at RMIT Vietnam, upon completion.
The Women in STEMM Research and Teaching Pre-Doctoral Fellowship role will also be required to undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy. It is expected that the Associate Lecturer will develop expertise in teaching and research with an increasing degree of autonomy. As a Teaching Fellow and to achieve a doctorate with an international university and become a full university academic, you will contribute to the generation of unique body of knowledge in your field, and teach and pass on your enthusiasm for your subject to the younger generations.
The Pre-doctoral/Teaching Fellow will be required to teach and conduct classes in a discipline relevant to their field of expertise and assist in the academic and administrative, consultative and coordination tasks involved with these courses. Functions associated with the position include presentation of lectures and tutorials, assessment of students and course administration in line with the University’s quality assurance requirements.
